SOCIALCLUB DINNERThe 2007/08 Club Dinner was held on Friday 25th April at Penarth Athletic Club. Past and present members enjoyed a hearty meal and a few beers before President Alan Carter's now legendary speeches, which will surely go down in the Club's history. Special thanks must go to Roger Harris who echoed all the members feelings with regards to the inimitable Mr Carter. It is with both joy and sadness that we see Rob Davison leaving sunny Wales for the greener grass in England where he will be setting up home with his better half. 1st Team Player of the Year - Mark 'Freaky' Harris 2nd Team Player of the Year - Ben 'The Cat' Jewess Top Goal Scorer - Phil 'The Power' Lane Young Player of the Year - Rob 'I've won it again' Williams Clubman of the Year - Dave 'I must stop calling Mark freaky' Stevens
The Turkeys match, traditionaly played before Christmas between the under 25's and the over
25's, ended in a 4:4 draw with the young 'uns fitness prevailing after
trailing at half time. Tom Haron battered his way through the older brigade
in the second half bringing the young 'uns back into the
game. Penalties decided the game with bragging rights going to the young 'uns
after Sam "the cat" Docherty's cat like reflexes thwarted the oldies.
A few ales
were consumed back at the club with a few sore heads in the morning.
